The eagerly anticipated Denon DVD1940 is here to replace the ever-popular and highly successful DVD1930, but this is quite a challenge for Denon. With the DVD1930, Denon managed to set a whole new standard to sub £250 DVD Players, with the 1930 reproducing detailed, colourful and realistic images and top quality audio at an affordable price. It would seem that Denon have done the same again, with the DVD1940 proving to be a worthy replacement.
First off, the images: The new and improved Faroudja chip and 12 Bit DAC allows for enhanced video processing resulting in ultra smooth motion, natural colours and a depth and realist that brings the film to life. With 1080p upscaling, you will be able to make the most out of the recent full-HD plasma and LCD sets, but if your set is a 720p set, don’t worry because the DVD-1940 will also output 720p and 1080i via the HDMI. Using a standard-def TV?, the DVD-1940 comes with a scart output to allow yo to connect to your CRT set. Dolby Digital and DTS decoders allow the DVD-1940 to handle the demands of modern day movie soundtracks with ease, and the new 12 Bit DAC allows for a smoother, more realistic image to be displayed. All in all, with the DVD1940, you get a great cinema-like experience at a realistic price.
