When it comes to sound quality, we feel that the Kef XQ20's easily compete with the best. The bass response is superb. Low end frequencies are natural and not too boomy. One thing we instantly noticed about the Kef XQ20's was how fast, sharp and crisp the sound was. This is partly to do with the newly designed curvature of the tweeter and the removal of the super tweeter (which was previously used to artificially fill a void in the high end frequencies resulting in a less convincing sound). This new 'tangering-wavefront' cover smoothens out the top end frequencies (whilst also protecting the tweeter from damage) and helps disperse the HF, resulting in a crisp, detailed and crystal clear listening experience. This new design allows the high frequencies to work in harmony with the bottom end.

The XQ20 standmount speakers will perform just as well on movies as part of a home cinema system as they would do as part of a stereo system. This makes them a very flexible, versatile speaker.
