The Solo Movie 5.1 is an all in one system from British A/V purists, Arcam who pride themselves on high levels of performance, quality and simple but effective styling. The Solo Movie 5.1 has it all. It offers universal disc playback, DVD-V, DVD-A, DiVX, CD and SACD, boasts an iPod connection via the r-Dock docking station, looks great and performs even better.

Visually, the Solo Movie 5.1 is stunning. Black is back and as you may have noticed, is becoming the colour of choice for the new wave of plasma and LCD TV’s as well as the Sky HD box. The blue display found on the original Arcam Solo is still present adding style and class to the unit.

The build quality of the Solo Movie 5.1 is rarely seen at this level. The weight alone suggests the finest components have been used. The casing feels tough and rigid but looks the part and the buttons feel strong. Even the learning remote which can also be used to control other Arcam devices, is built to the highest of standards…

Convenience is one of the main attributes of the Arcam Solo Movie 5.1. As mentioned earlier, it plays multiple disc formats and will also up-scale to 720p/1080i. It also has a 50w pre channel integrated amplifier, DAB/FM tuner and 2nd zone audio output. Simplicity in a one box solution together with performance, shear quality and useablilty makes this one of our favourites.
