The KEF KHT1005.2 shares the same iconic 'egg' design as the original 1005s but that's where the similarity ends. With brand new finishes, the KHT1005.2's have a touch of class that can only be appreciated when you see them first hand. Gone have the old speaker cones from the original 1005 'eggs' and in comes 5 brand new cones which give each 1005.2 'egg' a real performance boost. Also new for the KHT1005.2 Kef 'eggs', a micro subwoofer-the Kube 1-which uses the latest digital amplification enabling Kef to squeeze out more power and deliver greater musical ability within the confines of this micro subwoofer.

Well, how do they sound? If you have an old 1005 system, it maybe time for an upgrade as Kef really have worked their magic with these babies. The overall improvements on the KHT1005.2 'eggs' are a close match to the KHT2005.2, but being smaller and sexier than the 2005's we feel that the firm favourite will be the new 1005.2 'eggs'.

Our verdict: We love them. Everything but the 'egg' chassis from Kef is different. 50w more power from the new micro Kube 1 subwoofer delivering a real punch, coupled with new speaker cones really sets the KHT1005.2 eggs apart from other small speakers. We feel Kef have taken what was already a class leading 5.1 lifestyle speaker package and made a truly astonishing statement in the home cinema lifestyle market.
