Tannoy Mercury VR Rear Speakers. The main feature of the Tannoy Mercury VR speaker is its reduced depth. Designed to be highly flexible and suitable for a number of different applications in a home AV system. Based on the Mercury V1, the VR cabinet has a much reduced depth and although it sacrifices on some deep bass performance it more than makes up in its versatility. Ideal for rear surround or rear back or 'Dolby Height' channel duties.

The Mercury VR speakers make use of a pulp-paper cone, being stiffer and lighter it results in a more powerful sound giving a rich bass and a crystal clear mid-range. The re-worked tweeter is engineered to tolerances you would usually expect from a much more costly speaker.

A revision in design for the crossover is yet another key area of improvement. Using some of the technology and design found in Tannoy's more expensive high-end speakers, the Mercury VR are probably one of the best entry-level rear speakers available. The bar is further raised by the VR's flexibility, pre-fitted to the rear panel is a four-way fixing device, allowing an easy application for wall mounting. Available in either sugar maple or dark walnut finish the Tannoy Mercury VR will suit a modern or traditional decor, setting a new standard for budget surround speakers.
